Another special thanks goes to Project A for donating their expert design services and technical assistance to the project. We recently delivered baked goods to the Project A team for their morning break.
Celebrate National Friends of the Library Week with THE PUBLIC! National Friends of the Library Week is October 20-26. In addition to the anniversary celebration above, we are going to mark the occasion with a special screening of THE PUBLIC, Monday, October 21, 2 pm, in the Gresham Room at the library. There will be popcorn!
THE PUBLIC is the 2018 film written, directed by, and starring Emilio Estevez, along with an ensemble cast that includes Alec Baldwin, Jena Malone, Michael Kenneth Williams, and Christian Slater. The Public refers both to the Cincinnati Public Library where the story takes place, and the public who use it. During a severe cold snap, a group of homeless people decide to stay past closing, and the librarians decide to stay with them. The rest of the film is about the standoff with city officials that ensues.

Amy Kinard was named the Friend of the Year for 2018 to honor the many behind-the-scenes hours she has given to the silent auction and other Friends activities. The award comes with a shelf plaque, which Amy chose to place in the children’s picture book collection, in honor of her grandchildren.
