Annual Meeting Will Feature JPR’s Geoffrey Riley

Mark your calendars now for the annual all-member meeting Saturday, March 14, 1-3 pm in the Gresham room at the library. We will celebrate our recent accomplishments, update everyone on upcoming projects and activities, announce the volunteer and business partner of the year, and enjoy socializing and refreshments. Our speaker will be JPR’s Geoffrey Riley, who will talk about his thirty years living in and reporting on the State of Jefferson.

2019 Author Fair a Success

The Friends of the Library co-sponsored and provided the volunteer team for the high-energy December 8, 2019, Local Author Fair. Special thanks to Friends Amy Blossom and Pat Fuhrman and Reference Librarian Amy Greenwald for their leadership and organizational skills, and to all the volunteers for their enthusiasm and help on the day of the fair.

Over sixty authors and 265 attendees enjoyed getting acquainted and talking books that afternoon. Here are a few snapshots of the day.

Local Author Fair – December 8, 2019

The Friends of the Ashland Public Library and Jackson County Library Services are excited to co-sponsor the Local Author Fair, next Sunday, December 8, noon to 3 pm, on all three floors of the Ashland Library, 410 Siskiyou Blvd.

Over 60 local authors will be on hand to display their books, visit with you, and sign the books you purchase. There will also be author readings and short talks throughout the afternoon, and there will be drawings for free books every half hour.

We hope to see you at the celebration!

Authors Valerie Coulman (12:30 p.m.), Judy Cox (1:30 p.m.), and Kim Griswell (2:30 p.m.) will discuss writing and publishing children’s books and working with an illustrator. Related activities for children will take place throughout the afternoon.

Teen Department

Authors Sarah D. Silver (12:15 p.m.), Jenny Englund (1:15 p.m.), and Cherie Coon (2:15 p.m.) will give short talks on writing for teens, including writing from experience and creating the villain.
